Kozhikkode: National Confederation of Human rights Organizations (NCHRO) elected new office bearers for its Kerala chapter. They are Kunnathur Radhakrishnan (president), Reni Ilin, K P O Rahmathulla (vice presidents), C A Haris (general secretary), Adv. N M Siddeeq, Shabna Ziyad (secretaries) and A M Shanavas (Treasurer).
It was the general assembly of the organization held at K.M.A Auditorium in Kozhikkode that elected new office bearers. Prof. P Koya, A Vasu, Moin Bappu, K Prasanna Kumar, Adv. Shukoor, K H Nasar, Musthafa Kommeri and  A Ibrahim Kutty are state committee members.
Meeting was inaugurated by A Vasu, eminent human rights activist. In India undeclared emergency still prevails, he opined while narrating the incidents of human rights abuses, custody deaths, illegal detentions and arrests on fabricated cases etc. Reni Ilin presided over the function. K H Nasar presented the annual report. Adv. Sadiq Naduthodi, N M Siddeeq, K P O Rahmathulla, Moin Bapu and Musthafa Kommeri also spoke.
In the afternoon session, documentary screening was held as part of international anti torture day observations. Eminent documentary director K P Sasi inaugurated the session.
‘Our governments are trying to suppress struggles for self determination in various part of the country and that is with the money of the tax payers. Our defense minister A K Antony also can not absolve from the responsibility’- he opined. Two documentaries- Re-defining Peace by Sasi and Mullaitheevu Saga by Swomeedharan- were screened.
